Joyce Elizabeth Hawes,

JOYCE ELIZABETH HAWES,

2021

HAWES, Joyce Elizabeth (née Kitt)
Joyce passed away at Extendicare Kirkland Lake October 7, 2014 after driving people crazy for 90 years. “She could start a riot in an empty room.” She had many battles with cancer but it finally won the war. She was a Sergeant in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1942 to 1946, serving as a Teletype operator. She spent 30 years involved with the Royal Canadian Legion in many aspects and received her Life Membership from Branch 262 Elmvale. She will be missed by her children Caroline Nancekievill(Jon) and David Hawes, her grandchildren Amy Hurst and Eric Hurst, her sister Ruth Ross and her nieces Ellen Denomy(Mike) and Laura House – not to forget Elda Mathews, the Honey Harbour gang, her friends at Legioncrest in Orillia and her friends at Creemore Legion and Extendicare. She was not one to be forgotten and has left many people saddened at her passing. She was pre-deceased by her parents Homer and Oley Kitt of Woodstock, and her brother Warren Kitt of London. We wish to thank all the staff at Extendicare Kirkland Lake for their above-and-beyond care for Joyce during her stay there! There will be an “Open House” and lunch at the Matachewan Christian Fellowship Church on Calbeck Street in Matachewan on Sunday October 19, 2014 from 2-4pm to share stories and memories about Joyce. If you have a story about Joyce but cannot attend, please send it to caroljiji@hotmail.ca and it will be read at the lunch. She would want us to have some fun for her. See you there!Offer Condolence for the family of Joyce Elizabeth Hawes

To the Hawes family, I am sorry for your loss. Death of someone we love is never easy to overcome. As you reminisce on the good times you had with Joyce, always remember the Bible’s promise that all in the grave will be resurrected to a peaceful earth where death will be gone. (John 5:28,29; Micah 4:3,4; Revelation 21:4) God does not lie. (Numbers 23:19)

To Joyce’s Family, We are saddened to read of Joyce’s passing. We have many fond memories of times spent with her, and also of the oddly shaped putter that she used in the Picnic Island Open Golf Tournaments. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Joyce, and to her family. Glen and Karen Risk ( part of the Honey Harbour gang ) Goderich, Ontario.
