It seems only weeks ago that I was speaking to Joanne. We went to high school together and, although I left town for a number of years, when I met her one day at Extendicare it was as though we had just walked out of the classroom. We had a great time catching up. Joanne was a compassionate and gentle caregiver to my in-laws, Bill and Irene Kallio, at Extendicare. It is with certainty that I know she shared those same qualities with other residents. When she talked of her family her eyes lit up – she was SO proud of you – and when we re-counted stories of her cousins’ escapades in high school (Bill and Tom!), she laughed a deep belly laugh. That’s how I will remember her – eyes twinkling and laughing deeply. Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

So very sorry to hear of Joanne’s passing. Joanne and I had many happy times together in Kirkland Lake, and kept touch through college, and then, regrettably, we lost touch over the years and miles that separated us. My condolences to all of Joanne’s family. Carol Adams (Urquhart)

Dear Tony and family; We are wintering in Texas and I just found out this morning about Joanne’s passing. I am shocked and saddened. We had many a chit chat at the Credit Union, poor Joanne could never get her banking done in good time if I spotted her at the counter. ha My deepest condolances to you and your family Tony. I hope to be back the spring to attend any services at the Round Lake cemetary. Big hug. Pat Parkman
