Daoust, Jean-Rene "JR"

DAOUST, Jean-Rene "JR"

1964 - 2022

It is with great sorrow that the Daoust Family announces the passing of Jean-Rene. J-R passed peacefully at home with his life partner, Sylvie, by his side on Tuesday March 29th, 2022.  Predeceased by his loving father Rene Daoust, his loving mother Pierrette Daoust (nee Champagne), he leaves behind his life partner Sylvie Goulet, his children,  Adam (Olivia MacDonald), Jordan, and stepdaughter Ashley Rivers (Gilles Jasmin).  Brothers and sisters, Diane (Daniel Breen), Denis (Teresa McIntyre), Christiane (David Ferguson), Claude (Rachelle Lefèbvre), Marie-France “Frankie” and Andre (Tracey Day).  Four grandchildren: Keira, Deegan, Everly and Nathaniel.  He also leaves behind his mother in law Gemma Goulet, brothers in law and sisters in law, Guylaine Belley (Pierre Dion), Michel Goulet(Velma Hart), Jean Goulet (Aline Dumouchel), Lise Huber(Maurice Leonard), Linda Payant (Denis Payant). He also leaves behind many nephews and nieces.

As a life partner, he valued and respected time spent together and always put my feelings above everything. He cherished his family, his friends and gave as much time and effort to help those around him. Even in the worst days of his battle he put all of his effort into making people around him, especially his grand children, laugh and smile.

As a father JR emphasized on how important it is to work hard and give back to the community and help people around you. He created baseball diamonds in his yard for his kids and their friends to enjoy. He coached many minor sports teams. He inspired those around him to power through obstacles with creativity and a positive attitude. With his camera, he captured countless meaningful and memorable moments for the families of Kirkland Lake.

In memory of J-R, in lieu of flowers, we would like for his spirit to continue shining throughout the community by taking time to help someone you see in need, by stopping to have a nice conversation with a stranger, or paying it forward in whatever way is right for you. J-R gave a lot to his community and received more than tenfold in return.

The family would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support and condolences.  Also everyone who touched his life with their kindness and generosity during his journey. The contractors and businesses that help when he needed them and the nurses and medical staff that were with him until the end.

A private gathering to honour JR's life will be held at a later date.

Please know that as many of the folks in our community, we mourn for your loss of this very kind, soft spoken man. We have many fond memories of baseball years as Wayne’s teammate. Photographs he took and videos of our grand-daughter, that will always be a part of his talented passion of photography. A friend to so many. Please accept our deepest condolences. To the wonderful family across the street, neighbours and friends. I am extremely sorry for your loss of JR. Growing up across the street we had the pleasure to see JR grow to be the amazing person he became. I grew up with Marie, JR and Andre and had the absolute pleasure of working with Sylvie for many years. The legacy of JR will be seen in his family, the community and all the friends through his life. I have been away from KL for a long time, but I could see the impact JR had on everyone. The memory of JR will live on. Marie, Andre and Sylvie take care and I hope the pain and sorrow fade away in time and the great memories give you joy

The Daoust Family

It is with very great sorrow that I offer my Condolences on the "passing" of J.R. He was one of my best Mates. I, literally, grew-up with him from the age of 13. We went to K.L.C.V.I, played throughout several years of the Lion's Hockey Organization, attended several Sand Pit Parties and even went Hunting/Fishing together. Rudyard Kipling once wrote; "if you can keep your Head when all those around you are losing theirs.... then, my Son, you will have become a Man." J.R. was a Man long before he was old enough to be a Man. I know that my Dah was the first one at "the Gates" to meet him. I love you, Brother.

JR could be trusted and he cared with his focussed actions far beyond himself. His unique smile was unmasked and contagious and his spirit strong, very strong! When he saw an opportunity for someone else he shared it ungrudgingly. Such a generous dude. I enjoyed my time spent with JR and that pleasure will endure. Merci mon ami et mes sentiments a toute la famille.
