COOK, Ileen

1923 - 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ileen Cook at the age of 99. Ileen passed peacefully at the Temiskaming Hospital on Tuesday November 22 nd .

Ileen was a loving mother to her sons Eric (Sandra), Wayne, and Stephen (Nicole). Known as ‘Grams’ or ‘Grandma’ by her granddaughters Anita and Candise, Ileen was a proud grandmother to both girls.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Edgar Cook, her parents Grace and William Morrow, and her siblings, Lloyd, Edna, Florence, and Dorthy.

Survived by her siblings Norma, Rosalie, Faye, Hilda, and Eric.

Ileen was a hard-working farmers wife, dedicated mother, and devoted Jehovah’s Witness. She will be missed by her many friends in the Temiskaming Shores Congregation, of which she was the oldest surviving member.

Ileen lived life by always keeping busy, she was known for being an avid blueberry picker and the blueberry patch was her happy place, she was picking right up to the young age of 98. She and her sisters would spend countless hours picking blueberries to fulfill orders, and she enjoyed every minute of it. She was recognized by her family for her baking, and was considered “the best”, the recipes of wonderful pies and cookies were endless. There was never a time the fridge in the front porch was not filled with a wide selection of goodies. She had a sweet tooth herself and was known to enjoy a treat or two! Many were recipients of her generosity over the years and may have something she knitted or crocheted.

A special thanks to the staff at the Temiskaming Hospital for the care and compassion they provided during this difficult time.

Ileen will be cremated at the Temiskaming Funeral Co-Operative-New Liskeard. Per Ileen’s wishes, there will be no service, the immediate family will have a small gathering in the Spring.

Eileen’s family

Beautiful lady. Loved being the oldest living Morrow. My mother was Annie (Morrow) Swartz sister to your grandfather. I Went to high school with Eric. That takes us back a few years. Wayne and Eileen would meet me in the grocery store over the years and catch up. Our sympathies to you all. Diane (Swartz) & Herb Morin.

Wayne,
So sorry to read of your Mother's passing. I always adored her.
I so wanted to get up North this summer to visit with her, but due to my circumstances was unable to. I will get there one of these days.

To Aunt Ileen’s family

I’m so sorry to learn of Aunt Ileen’s passing! I always loved to see her whenever we crossed paths on our weekends visiting mom and dad (Hilda and Henry Deitrick). I have a special memory of her at my parents 50th anniversary celebration when she treated my little ones like her own grandchildren. She was a very special lady. Sending hugs and much love from across the miles!
