MCLEAN, Howard `Howie`

1940 - 2014

In loving memory of Mr. Howard “Howie” McLean, who after a brave and courageous battle lost his fight on January 2, 2014 at the age of 73 at Englehart & District Hospital. Born in Beardmore, Howard was raised and lived in Iroquois Falls, Porquis Junction and Kirkland Lake, while working for Star Transport for 30 plus years. He built his retirement home at Round Lake, where he also was Deputy Fire Chief for 10 years, before moving to Englehart. Howie was a generous, giving man, often giving people a ride, a place to stay, a meal or a bus ticket to where they were going. Howie was a great husband, father and provider. Whether he was riding his motorcycle in support of the Biker’s Reunion, making his awesome homemade wine or playing poker, he lived live to the fullest. Pre-deceased by his parents Frank & Helen McLean, siblings Clair, Robert, Peggy, Pearl and special companion `Hollygirl`. He is survived by his loving wife and soulmate of 54 years Lucille, son Peter, son James (Wendy), daughter Lorrie (Aime).Loving grandfather to Catherine Vinkle (Andre Brunet), Lorrie Claire Vinkle, Courtney McLean (Daren Shail), MacKenzie McLean, and loving great grandfather to Justin & Danika Brunet and special little man Bhaic McLeod (little ham), also survived by his sister Shirley Smith (Vic) and many nieces and nephews. Also his extended family Jeff, Erin Flichel and sons Jack, Ben and Max. In keeping with the family wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring.
