HOWARD, Harvey

1926 - 2019

“Shirl, you’ve got something on your line,” the ever-attentive fisherman would say. Or, “Those tracks are really fresh!” Harvey Howard was a man who loved to fish and hunt and spend as much time in the bush as he could. He raised a large family, built many, many homes, played just a few games of 500, did countless puzzles, loved the Blue Jays and most of all, loved to hear Mom sing. Dad had a good run. He passed away at the Northview Nursing Home on December 22, 2019 at the age of 93. He is predeceased by his son, Dana, his parents, John and Elizabeth, sisters Marion, Grace, Agnes, Betty, Ruth and brothers James and Jack and is survived by his sister, Irene. He is also survived by his hunting partner, Shirley, his sons, Dennis (Kelly), David (Kris), John (Christiane) and Perry (Christine), and his daughter, Carol (Stephen)—also hunting partners at one time or another. Being around his grandchildren, Caley, Michael, Caitlyn, Jonathon, Justin, Joshua, Mackenzie, and Hannah and his great-grandchildren Haven, Holden, Martin and Thomas always made Harvey smile and full of pride. Each of us has a special appreciation for the bush because of this man. A celebration of his life will be held in the spring at the Howard homestead at a time to be determined. There will be pies and singing—no cheese. A special thank you to the staff at the Northview Nursing Home for their kindness, caring and support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, please raise a cup of tea and a shortbread cookie to a wonderful, kind, and gentle man who we will all greatly miss. Condolences, contributions and memorial candles may be left at www.mcdonaldfuneralhome.ca.
