In loving memory of Germaine "Gerry" Fournier who passed away suddenly at the Temiskaming Hospital on Sunday February 16, 2014 after a short illness She will be greatly missed by her sister Jeanne D'Arc (Joan) Roncato, her children Paulette Rostad (Dallas), Dennis Fournier (Deb), and Joanne Dekkers (Gus), her 3 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her parents Sarah Lefebvre and Mathias Bastarache, her husband Alcide (Sid) Fournier, her sisters Marie-Jeanne Hamilton and Laurianna (Louise) Bastarache. Gerry was born in Evanturel Township. She moved to Englehart as a child and then to New Liskeard as a teen. She worked at many different businesses over the years including Hill Clark Francis, the post office, Denny's Dry Cleaners and Mongrain Textiles. She continued sewing and doing alterations until her death. Gerry was very involved in her church. She was active in the Catholic Women's League and Pro-vie Tri-Town Right-To-Life. She loved traveling around Canada. Her greatest joy was sharing Jesus through scripture studies. At the age of 59 she attended Newman College in Edmonton Alberta, followed by John Paul II bible school in Radway, Alberta where after graduation she became a house mother for a few years, She returned home to be an enthusiastic bible study group leader and teacher in the RCIA program for adults wanting to become Catholic. She had an active walk with Jesus and has gone to meet her Lord. Let us Rejoice! The family will receive friends at the Perrin Funeral Chapel on Wednesday from 7 pm until 9 pm. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at Our Mother Of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 11AM. A celebration of life is planned for June. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society will be gratefully acknowledged. Due to severe allergic reactions of some family members, please refrain from wearing any scents or perfume and floral tributes must be refused.
