Claudette and family, please accept our sincere sympathies.
Georgette Desjardins – Oct. 28, 1925 – May 10, 2011 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Georgette Marguerite (Lauzon) Desjardins at the Kirkland District Hospital on 10 May 2011. Georgette (Georgie) was predeceased by her husband Regis Arthur Desjardins, 5 August 1964, and her eldest son Victor John on 7 August 2006. She is survived by her sons, Rolland (Irene) Desjardins, Normand (Lise) Desjardins, her daughter Claudette (Marcel) Guilbeault, and her daughter-in-law, Cecile (Gauvreau) Desjardins. Georgette was blessed with eight grandsons (her little baseball team that she adored): Victor Joel Desjardins, Michel (Thea), Serge Desjardins, Jeremie (Tammy), Jamie and Dylan Desjardins, Marc and André (Connie) Guilbeault and one great-granddaughter that she never had the joy of meeting: Amber Desjardins. Georgette held a special place in her heart for her nephew Aurèle (Denise) Lauzon and her former granddaughter-in-law, Cynthia Brasch. She is also survived by her sisters, Blanche (Aurèle) Morin, Gloria (the late Armand) Daigle; her brothers, Lubelle (Laura) Lauzon, Louis (the late Shirley) Lauzon and Glenn (Shirley) Lauzon as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Georgette enjoyed her summers at the Vermilion River in Chelmsford with her sister Blanche and fishing partner Aurèle. Georgette was a devoted parishioner of the Assomption Church, a member of Les filles d’Isabelle and Le Club 50 plus. She was past president of Les femmes canadiennes française del’Ontario, les dames de Ste-Anne, and regent with the Ladies of the Moose. After the passing of her beloved husband Regis following a mining accident in 1964, Georgette devoted her life to her church, children, family and volunteer work throughout the community. Following a stroke in 2003, she made her home at the Teck Pioneer Residence (TPR) where she previously worked as head cook. We wish to extend an extra special thank you to our Aunt Gloria for her unconditional love and support during these difficult years. The family wishes to thank the staff at the TPR for making her last years as comfortable as possible with great care, compassion and dignity. We offer a special thank you to Dr. Richard Denton for his many years of service as mothers’ physician. The children would like to invite family and friends to the Monette and French Funeral Home (450 Government Rd, West, Kirkland Lake, Ontario, P2N 3L1) on Wednesday May 11, 2011 from 7pm to 9pm and on Thursday May 12, 2011 from 10am to 11am. Funeral services will be held at the Assomption Church on Thursday May 12, 2011 at 11am. Georgette will be laid to rest beside her loving husband at the Kirkland Lake cemetery. In memory contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Cancer Society or to the Teck Pioneer Activity fund would be appreciated by the family.Offer Condolence for the family of Georgette Desjardins
