Mrs. Jemima Mathias passed away in the comfort of family and friends at the Kirkland & District Hospital at the age of 81 years on July 13, 2007. Jemima was born on Christmas morning 1925 to Jawbone and Annie Pitremont in the Community of Beaverhouse. She resided in her aboriginal community of Beaverhouse for the majority of her life, where she enjoyed the natural beauty of the land. Jemima was a longtime member of Beaverhouse First Nation Community. She married her childhood friend Alex John Mathias who predeceased her. Jemima was also predeceased by children Arthur & Henry Mathias and Elizabeth Languef & Betty Wabie. She is survived by her children Nancy Allen, Terry Mathias, Lynn Hall, Marcia Brown, & Ted Mills; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. Jemima will be greatly missed by her lifelong friend Clara Mathias. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Monette & French Funeral Home from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2007 and at the Beaverhouse Community Recreation Centre at the Beaverhouse Settlement from 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 until 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2007. A Funeral Service will be held at the Beaverhouse Church on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Wayne Mills officiating.
