PORTEOUS, Florence Mary – Our precious mother passed away at the Kirkland & District Hospital on August 31, 2010 in her 93rd year. She was predeceased by her husband Angus Woodrow MacDonald & George Levi Porteous, Her parents Vincenza & Joseph DeRose, her sister Amy Krane and brother John DeRose, her granddaughter Shannon Lee MacDonald , her great grandson Shawn Short and son in-law Vennio Valentini. Left to Mourn her passing are her 5 children Sarah Valentini, Rita MacDonald, Dan MacDonald, Mary (Bill) Luoma and B.Amy (Jim) Telford. She is survived by 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. What a wonderful mother we had. She taught us so much; she worked tirelessly for us to have a better life. She was an excellent role model showing us the way to independence. She was the greatest mother that any child could dream of having. Mom we will all miss you very, very much. A graveside service will be held at the Kirkland Lake Cemetery on Thursday September 9th, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., in case of rain the service will be held at the Trinity United Church (Duncan Avenue, Kirkland Lake) with Reverend David Bould Officiating. So sorry to hear of the passing of your mother. I remember her smiling face when I was growing up in Federal. It never dimmed in all the years. She would stop & chat whenever I saw her. I will always remember her as a very nice lady.
