Mona & Family, my thoughts are with you in your time of sorrow. RIP Ernie.
Thinking of you Mona and Family hugs to everyone. I will always remember the time Ernie when we were living on second street. He quickly took Janice and Robert across the street and told them to stay there he was there to help put out the fire. The man who had fallen asleep and left something on the stove causing the fire got a very sever talking to from Ernie. My children often spoke of the fireman who hugged them and said it will be ok. He was one great man in many peoples eyes.
Dear Mona, we share your grief in this time of bereavement with deepest sympathy and condolence.
Mona & Family, So sorry to hear of Ernies passing, it is so sad to lose a loved one, our deepest sympathies ????
Thank you to the friends that knew our dad. We knew our dad was great but it is very heartwarming to hear the previous stories.. Our mom and dad had a beautiful love story of 64 years. They never lived beyond their means We as a family lived a “simple life” Dad had a contagious laugh, but he could also be a stubborn mule!! We would go camping fishing. Mike and I knew dad was a good storyteller!! Dad loved to share news of our accomplishments and steal a piece of mom’s chocolate bar and blame it on the dogs!! Dad had a unique skill of remembering “everyone’s name” But also connecting and weaving the history of people lives in this community of Kirkland lake.. Dad loved to social whether it be in the grocery stores or working at different things!! Our dad had a heart of gold!! As a litte girl mom and I would walk to Chaput highway and wait for dad. When the whistle would blow you could see dad coming thru the gate with his silver lunch pail swinging. When he would teach mom and I he would always give mom a kiss and then throw me up on his shoulders. Those were memories I cherish. Mike wasn’t born yet. You see we moved to federal in 1960 so mike is a federal guy and only new of dad being a firefighter. When dad got hired on the fire dept. He swung our mom round and round in the kitchen. Mom was crying. It was the best job he could of got as he used to chase the fire truck all the time!! Than after dad became a firefighter he would go to dangerous fires and mom, Mike and I would hear the sirens or heard it was a bad one. Mom would take us and we would go and hold hands and say a prayer for all the fireman!!! After fighting a fire our dad would walk through the door and us kids run and jump in his arms. Mom thank you for loving our dad. Mom kept dad grounded and gave him support like no one could. Mom was the glue. They loved each other so much. Mom and Mike love is what got dad to defy the odd with amazing will to live. The courage and strength, humility posed right until his last breath truly showed the man he was!! Someone you can be proud to call your dad. Us children and spouses, grandchildren, great-grandchildren will miss him deeply. We as “Ernie’s” family are proud of his legacy he leaves behind. The world is a better place because dad “lived it”. We love you and you shall not be forgotten. Because of you dad the stories you’ve told us will live on. Mind you they might have some extra bs in them (oops) sorry that’s a no no The memories we’ve shared and most important. You loved each one of us Gary, Virginia and our kids, Christopher, Daniel, Alison, Trent, Walker, Alisa, Alyssa and Paisley. So this is our family saying for the special bench “May we walk these shores, hand in hand, forever. Goodbye dad
