We are sorry to hear of the loss of Mr. Butt. He was my first principal at Federal P.S. He had a great deal of patience with teachers and students. I remember one of his lessons. He said that “finders keepers losers weepers” was wrong because children should try to return what they find to the owner. No doubt he had many little lessons while dealing with student behaviours. Both Joan and Ted were very kind. When we adopted our twins, Joan brought over two little T-shirts for Jacob and Diane to welcome them to our family. Ted was a firm but good principal who treated everyone with respect. May God’s peace, presence and comfort be with you Joan in this new season of your life. Condolences to you and your family

I will remember his passion as my teacher, and his love for all he taught, despite being stern he had a unique ability to teach well. I will cherish our talks, however there were too few of these last year’s. If there is anything I can do in this time or at anytime hereafter please don’t hesitate to call. We will never really lose him so long as we keep his memory strong in conversation, in our thoughts and prayers! All our love and condolences, Bobby and the Haskins family

I met Ted and his Mom when I was living at 48 McCamus. Ted was getting ready to be a teacher, his Mom was so proud! I had my Son Kyle while at 48 McCamus, and Mrs. Butt was my saviour! After Kyle was born one nite I was walking the floor, him crying. Mrs. Butt came downstairs and asked what’s wrong..I was waiting for the four hour feeding schedule, I thought I had to do four hours on the nose, she assured me NOT get that bottle and fill it up, I was waiting ,see His schedule was 4 oz. every four hrs. We had a very nice chat, I had a happy baby, Teds Mom was a gem. Just wanted you to know how much his Mom loved her boy! I’m so sorry for your loss, he was three yrs. younger than me, too young in my eye. I was just diagnosed with lymphoma, so I might meet 80 , how lucky am I. I will say a wee prayer, there will be a hole in your heart for sure, such a nice person. Love to all Marilyn

I’m very sorry to hear about your loss…my condolences.
My brother Ted, was very special, he was much younger than our older brother Dave and myself, but we all had many fun times together. Ted and Joan were such a great help when our Mom was requiring extra care and both Dave and I were in southern Ontario. He was a wonderful Uncle to my three sons, it was Ted who influenced two of them to become avid curlers and who always gave them help with their golf swing. He was a younger brother to my husband, my favourite memory of them, was seeing them sitting on our front porch on a rather cool morning drinking Tim’s coffee(I’m sure Ted went for it) both with their caps on and having a great chat as they so often did. We will miss you so very much Ted.
Dear Joan & Family: Rory & I are very sad to learn of Ted’s passing. What a wonderful gentleman Ted was. Our paths crossed on the curling ice and Ted always had a kind word to say. He will surely be missed. May God Bless You.

Both Walter and I extend our sincerest condolences in the loss of your beloved husband and father, Ted. Ohhh the good ole days of curling and the laughter we all shared on the ice as well off. Aunt Joan and family, we are so sorry to hear about Uncle Ted. Our thoughts are with you.
To Joan and family, and relatives and friends: Please accept my deepest sympathy in the passing of a wonderful, loving, caring and gentle person – Ted. I know that times like this are difficult and we often wonder why someone had to leave us sooner than we wished. As Jesus Himself wept for his friend Lazarus, He showed us by raising him from the dead that he will do this for us one day. One day we will be together with Jesus who loves us no less than Lazarus, and with each other also. Until that time, I pray that God’s blessings and graces, along with all the great memories of Ted, will comfort and console you. For Ted, I pray that Eternal rest be granted unto him by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and that His Perpetual Light shine on Ted forever. Remember, when the apostles asked Jesus how to pray, He said to pray as though your prayers have already been answered. I believe they have been answered for Ted. God bless.
We are deeply sorry to hear of Ted’s passing. He was a true friend for many years and will be sadly missed. We had some great times together at Teacher’s College. He will never be forgotten.

Sincere condolences to all of the Butt family.
Dear Joan and Butt family: I am so sorry to hear of Ted’s passing. I am sending Angels to help you through your time of sorrow, and to remind you of all the great times you had together. Ted will be greatly missed in the wonderful community of Kirkland Lake.
While it has been many years since I last met Ted -one of the school reunions I think- Ted was a great friend and confidant during our high school years. As a golfer , my recollections of fairly even ‘earnings’ on the putting green and his setting the pace on the course are fine memories. I am not at all surprised to be reminded of his many contributions to civic life and our shared professional life. All too often, at this stage of our lives, we see the passing of friends that we knew. The family should take comfort in remembering that Ted’s presence among us all really mattered. I will miss him.
Dear Joan and family My sincere condolences to you and your family. My thoughts and prayers have been with you during this difficult time and I will continue to pray for you to have strength and courage during this sad period in your life. Ines Robazza
Butt family; I was saddened to hear of Ted’s passing. He will be missed by his family, friends, and the community. RIP my friend
Joan and family…. It is with deep sympathy that we send this condolence for the passing away of Ted. The Butt family was very special in my (Sid’s) working days at Lake Shore Mine. Ted’s father, Eddie Butt was the electrical foreman and was very supportable throughout my electrical training years at the mine. Ted’s older brother David with whom I had a good relationship, came upon the scene shortly before I moved on to new horizons. I met Ted in my early 50’s and had many conversations throughout our education years. Our thoughts and prayers are with you….
“–What is good has been explained to you, man; this is what Yahweh asks of you: only this, to act justly, to love tenderly and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8) This is the Ted we came to know and love and are so blessed to have as a friend. May God Bless his soul and may He bring comfort and peace to each one of you. Love Always, Ursula & John
To Joan and all my cousins and their families: I am so sorry on the loss of Uncle Ted. He was a great man and loved his family! Hold tight to all your memories of him. He was gentle (as so many people have written in the condolences) and was very caring. I so appreciated how he always kept in touch with my mom after dad passed. He and Aunt Joan always kept us in the loop. I am sending prayers and hugs to all and am sorry I can’t get up there to attend funeral but know that I am thinking of all of you. Rest in peace Uncle Ted. Love Jenn and Jim Schram and kids.

Dear Joan, I was so very saddened when I learned of Teds passing. My sincere condolences go out to you and your family. I have felt so fortunate to have been a part of Teds volunteer world and I always refer to Ted as the best wingman in his role as Vice-Chair of the Kirkland and District Hospital Board. Ted never faltered when it came to placing his priorities. He was always so calm and collected. He was described as a gentleman and he absolutely was every step of the way. May he rest in peace. Patty Quinn
Our thoughts are with you, Brian & Krys.
I am very sorry for your loss. Jesenko Bajovic, London Life
Ted’s perfect drive, perfect pitch and a perfect putt an everyday occurrence now that he’s riding with Jesus. “Life brings tears, smiles, and memories. The tears dry, the smile fades, but the memories live on forever.” With heartfelt sympathy, Denis Piquette and Family.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Joan, Ed, Tim, Jana, Natalie and the entire Butt family on the loss of Ted. Our world just isn’t as great a place as it once was with Ted’s passing. The curling sheet created a special bond with Ted that I am very grateful for and I was privileged to have been teamed up with Ted for many years….he was a fantastic mentor for me and he should be proud to know his teaching skills extended well beyond the classroom…if you took the time just to witness Ted’s classy and gentlemanly demeanour both on and off the ice, you came away from the experience a better person! I feel truly blessed to have been able to share the “gift of Ted” on so many levels. Rest in Peace my friend! Jerry, Liz, Jesse and Marlee Robazza

Dear Joan & family: Just now reading of Ted’s passing. Had we known sooner we would have come to celebrate Ted’s life. He was such a fine gentleman. I enjoyed working with him. His first concern was always what was best for the student. We enjoyed our Principal Parties which without Ted would not have been as much fun. May your memories of him be a source of comfort.
