So sorry for your loss! Your Dad will be fondly remembered. Always good for a story and a chuckle!
It's with profound sadness we announce the passing of Clair at the Blanche River Health – Englehart Site on Monday, November 6, 2023.
Clair was a loving, Husband, Pa. Father-in-Law, Brother, Uncle and Friend.
Clair was predeceased by his parents Alma, “Momma” Gladys and Burton Rodgers; his wife Nancy (née Newport) Rodgers and his brother Brian Rodgers. He was also predeceased by Nancy's parents Irene and Henry Newport, sister-in-law Joanne Witzell, brother-in-law Tom Newport and Walter Reid.
He is survived and forever missed by his children Patrick (Roxanne) and Steven; his siblings (Sandy - late Brian) Rodgers, Harlene (George) Taylor, Joan (Lorne) Peever, Bonnie (Vernon) Cragg, Beryl (late Dave) Poulin, Randy (Laurel) Rodgers, Barbara Rodgers, sister-in-law Linda Ried and brother-in-law Dave Witzell. Clair (Uncle Gummy) also leaves to mourn numerous cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.
Well Dad, your pain and battle has now ended. You can rest easy again and finally give mom that big hug and kiss you've waited 34 years to do.
Dad: You could be the definition of “Family”. You instilled in your boys that there was no more important thing on this earth than family. You loved us more than words can ever say. And when we were lucky enough to have Roxanne come into our family, it made your star shine even brighter. Family meant the absolute world to you, and you were so proud and grateful for your sisters and brothers, nieces, and nephews. They all loved dearly their Big Brother and their “Uncle Gummy”.
Your personality was larger than life; your circle of friendships and work families can greatly attest to that. You touched so many people in your 80 years and we were all just lucky to be a part of it.
Knowing you spent your last hours with family over zoom, listening to your big brother Brian's memorial was all your heart needed to put it at rest.
The Family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Gorecki, Dr. Hack and Dr. Pawson and to all the wonderful nurses (his girls) and caregivers at the Englehart Hospital. Their care was outstanding and greatly appreciated.
Family and friends will be invited to gather for a celebration of life at a later date.
In keeping with Clair's wishes, cremation has been arranged with Timiskaming Funeral Cooperative.
So sorry for your loss! Your Dad will be fondly remembered. Always good for a story and a chuckle!

My deepest sympathies to all. He will be missed.
I am so sad to hear of both Brian and Claire passing. They were both part of my second family. I considered them both brothers. Even tho Brian was long gone out west by the time I was at an age to have much interaction with him he always remembered me when he came home. Claire on the other hand was always there with his crooked little smile and his teasing comments. He paid really good when I babysat Pat and wee Stevey too. Also thank you Claire for being there for mom when all those snow storms hit and you made sure she was always able to get to town. You will be greatly missed my friend and brother
Our sincere condolences to Pat, Roxanne, Steve and the entire Rodgers family. Clair will truly be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him and calling him friend.
I remember his booming voice when he coached hockey @ the old arena. He loved those boys like his own. He always looked out for the boys. I’m very sad for you on the passing of Clair. Treasure the special memories through the years. He’s with Nancy now. Rest easy Clair

Words are difficult to express the utter sadness these two events have placed on your shoulders. Please know that our hearts are also breaking, but knowing the strong, vibrant siblings you all are, you will combine your strengths to carry on. Your love and dedication to one another is an amazing tribute to your Dad and Mum(s) for the way they nurtured and cared for you. We offer our sincere, loyal and loving sympathies to two lives that were spent loving others and setting magnificent examples of how to live by giving of yourselves to others. We were so sorry to hear the sad news of Clair’s passing. We were lucky to have had a visit with Clair this past summer at my Mom’s (Bertha (Toots) Wood) Celebration of life at the Charlton Cemetery. Clair being the good brother ,brought his sisters Bonnie and Beryl, to the graveyard in his caddy. I have many fond memories of growing up and spending time at Uncle Bert’s farm with all of the Rodgers Family. Our hearts go out to you Patrick and Steven on the loss of your Dad. Rest in peace Clair.

Thirty four years since Nancy left us. How time passes. She was just like your Dad, a big personality…….always laughing….everyone loved her. She was so proud of her “boys”…that included Claire. She had lots of stories to tell about the things that went on at home and time spent in the arenas. She was so excited to have Roxanne come into her life…….another female around. I remember how difficult it was for all of you when she passed away. It will be a wonderful reunion for your Mom and Dad. It has been a long, lonely time for your Dad.
It must be comforting to know that you had wonderful parents who truly loved you.
Sending our sincere sympathy to all of you.
Clair. The memories that come to mind - years of hockey . practices, games and the affection shown to the boys - baseball games, house parties, corn roasts, tailgate parties and the comradery and the respect and love for family- the jokes, sarcasm (with that little smile) and laughter - the disagreements and discussions but most of all - a friend. Rest in peace, Coach. You will be missed.
Sympathies, prayers and hugs to all of you and your families. Cleve and Clair were buddies, Clair stood up in our wedding 52 years ago,his son Pat was our ring bearer, and Steve our godson. Nancy was one of the first friends I made when I first went up to "God's Country" as Cleve and Clair called it. We will never forget Clair and Nancy they were two of the most thoughtful people we knew. Nancy's kind hospitality, the calls from Clair in more recent years when we were going through our own health issues, the jokes on facebook, so many fond memories.
RIP dear Clair .
Love Cleve & Janet
