It is with deep sadness that the family announces the death of Christopher Alan Collins of New Liskeard, Ontario at the Toronto General Hospital surrounded by family on July 12, 2016 at the age of 51. Chris was raised in St. Catharines, Ontario and was a graduate of Brock University, Faculty of Education. His desire to teach brought him to New Liskeard in 1987. He began the teaching career he loved at English Catholic Central School and then moved on to St. Patrick School. In 1998, Chris was given the privilege of becoming a principal and provided leadership at St. Patrick School, Holy Family School and English Catholic Central School. His love of learning was a gift that he generously passed on throughout his career to the students and staff that he worked with. He believed in life-long learning and shared that passion with all whose lives he touched. Chris was an active community member who seized the opportunity to volunteer his time whenever possible. His great passion was sports. You could always find Chris enthusiastically participating in baseball, hockey, volleyball and curling. In between volunteering and playing sports, Chris was always there to help friends with household projects, coaching, and anything else that was asked of him. Chris is survived by his wife Lorene, son Bradley (Alanna), daughter Brooke Warring (Dale), grandson Rory Collins, parents Alan and Margaret Collins, sister Laura (Frances Nicholson) brother Michael (Dianne), parents-in-law, Hope and Neville Stevens, brother-in-law Derek (Judy) Stevens, nephews Stephen and David Collins and nieces Stephanie Collins, Katie-Lynn and Dana-Leigh Stevens. Chris was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to all. Chris lived life to the fullest and his absence will be felt by his community, his work colleagues, his friends, and most dearly by the “Brotherhood”. He will be forever missed and eternally loved by his family. Donations in Chris’ name to the Chemotherapy Room at the Temiskaming Hospital or to the For Kids Sake Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
