Chuck will be remembered by many as the proprietor of Jemmett's Confectionary on Whitewood Avenue, famous for its selection of penny candy and Eplett's Ice Cream. It was a popular spot for kids to give their pennies and nickles to Chuck for a bag full of Ju Jubes. Many students of New Liskeard High School had lunch with Chuck over a bottle of Pepsi and a Jos Louis. After selling the store in 1976 he worked with the LCBO as an Assistant Manager until his retirement. Since the mid 1960s he has been a dedicated member of the New Liskeard Lions Club, active until the time of his death. In his retirement Chuck loved to bake and share his cookies, squares and breads with family and friends. Chuck managed to stay in his home until the end. To do so, he had the help and support of many. The family would like to thank Myrtle Peddie, Isabelle Lent, Sue Naismith, and very special neighbours Diane Robitaille "Putch", Don Bouzane and Wayne Green. Chuck was not able to get out much the last few years so he was always very appreciative of your unconditional support and friendship. Thanks to the help of Myrtle, Isabelle and Sue, Chuck was able to stay in his home. Wayne drove him to Lions, Putch warmed his dinners and brought in the mail and the world is a much better place today because every Sunday Chuck and Don solved the world's problems. The family would like to thank Dr. Leger for her incredible empathy, caring and compassion. It was greatly appreciated by the family. The family want to also thank Dr. Tom McDermott for his dedication to helping Chuck so much over the years and for the home visits. Chuck and the family were also very appreciative of Dr. Smith for covering during Dr. Tom's absence and for the care Chuck received from the wonderful nurses and staff of the Temiskaming Hospital.
