Dear Louise, Mark and Carol It is with fond memories of your mom that I pass on my condolences to you and your families. I have a vivid recollection of she and my mother, Dorothy Jarvis, sitting in our kitchen having tea after their weekly Thursday grocery shopping trips. I came across this notice this week after unearthing some of my parents old photos, and found a few of your dad and mine on a fishing trip in 1964. I have posted one in the Photos section, and would be happy to share the others if you would like to email me. Pat Jarvis Winhold

To the Rutezki Family: We are very sorry to hear of Anna’s passing. As cottage neighbours we have nothing but very good memories of her and Harry. We can still picture them working in the garden and taking time to enjoy interesting conversations with us. They were great people to have next door, Our condolences to the family… Brian and Gale

Louise, Mark, Carole and families. My Deepest Condolences – after I married and moved to Newfoundland, I sent a note to your mother and asked for my favorite recipe – which whenever I stayed for dinner in Manitouwadge she always made – the chicken and rice casserole dish. She sent me a card with the recipe enclosed and it is and has always been a favorite with my family and while I can now make the recipe from memory (such as it is) I still have the card in my recipe book. What a kind and generous woman. Thinking of you all at this time. Melody

Dearest Grandma, I cant believe the time has come to say farewell. How strange it feels to write the words, when it seemed like just yesterday we were chatting on the phone — and not long before that, playing cards around your table — and just a little before that, swimming in the pool at 1 Chateau while you watched us with a smile on your face. Losing you is difficult for all of us. Though you lived a long life, and we are thankful that your passing was peaceful, you have been the head of the family for such a long time. After Grandpa passed away, you stayed strong and kept your head held high — though Im sure you missed him terribly, you never complained about it. Your strength of spirit and character, your unfailing ability to always look on the bright side and count your blessings, not your burdens, got you through and was a source of inspiration to us all. Youve given us so much, Grandma: golden childhood summers filled with love and laughter, magical memories that will never leave us, wisdom and advice that stood the test of time and rang true with every word. Everything you did was done out of love for your family, and a wish to see them happy and successful. We loved to hear stories of your childhood, and what it was like when you and Grandpa were just starting out. We came to you for advice about so many different things. And in you we found a boundless source of love and caring. Throughout your long life, you exemplified so many things that we should all strive for: your dedication to family, your strength in the face of tragedy, your wisdom concerning everything from how to cook the perfect roast beef, to being a frugal homemaker, to the best way to deal with difficult personal situations. Your endurance of lifes trials, your simple enjoyment of its blessings. Your faith in God. Your faith in yourself. Well never forget you, Grandma. It would be impossible. Any time we pick up a deck of cards, or eat a Swedish raspberry, well think of you. When were setting the table, or making our beds the way you taught us, youll be there. Youre looking down on us, still guiding us.Youre with Grandpa and your beloved mother and father. And youre forever in our hearts. We will see you again one day. Until then, as Grandpa always said, its not goodbye. Its auf wiedersehen.
