BAIN, Alice Marjory
Alice Marjory Bain of Elk Lake and of New Liskeard passed away on August 2nd 2015 at Tri-Town Extendicare. Alice was born on February 15th 1922 near Kazabazua, in the province of Quebec. Her parents were Mary Jane Milford and Henry "Mack" McAfee. She has three sisters: Violet (Joe Jackson), Genevieve (Arthur Nettleship), Jean (Harvey Lalonde), and one brother Norman (Ruth Pollock). The family moved to Markstay, Ontario, where she met Charles Henry Bain in nearby Sudbury where Alice was working as a child caregiver. They married on June 9th 1945. Their only son, Robert, was born on March 6th 1946. They moved from Sudbury to Elk Lake in 1948 where "Charlie" operated a garage, owned a sawmill, farmed, and finally worked at the LCBO. When they retired, they enjoyed spending a few winter months in Florida. Alice is predeceased by her husband (April 6th 1914-April 21st 1986), sister Violet and brother Norman. Her son, Robert, is married to Thérèse Grzela. They have three children: Darcy (Lara Cannata), Sarah, and Alex (Ashley Woods). Darcy and Lara have two children: Gabriella and Thomas. A special thank you goes to Dr. Corneil and Dr. Davies and to the excellent staff at Northdale Manor and Tri-Town Extendicare. The funeral will be held at the Perrin Funeral Chapel in New Liskeard. Visitation will be Sunday, August 9th from 7:00 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Monday, August 10th, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will follow and will be conducted by Rev. Judith Visser. Donations to the Northdale Manor or to St.Paul's United Church, both of New Liskeard, will be gratefully acknowledged.
